7 Metabolism Enhancing Foods

Cinnamon
Without going into the whole scientific explanation of why it works, adding 1/4 to 1 teaspoon of this spice to something you eat every day — hot cereal, marinades, yogurt — helps blood sugar get into cells to be used for energy, so less is stored as fat.






Green Tea
One ingredient, caffeine, is a stimulant that raises your heart rate and compels your system to burn calories faster. Plus, green tea has catechins, substances that some experts believe help burn belly fat. Aim for three 8-ounce cups a day.






Yogurt
Yeah, dairy has a bad rep for high calories, but yogurt, both the low-fat and regular kinds, contains probiotics: "friendly" bacteria that preliminary research suggests may actually help reduce the amount of fat your body absorbs.





Coffee
Again, the caffeine kicks your metabolism into high gear. Caffeine also jump-starts lipolysis, the breakdown of fat. One to two cups a day is ideal.







Chili Peppers
Often found in high quantities in hot salsa as well as in many Thai, Indian, and Chinese curry dishes, these wonder foods are packed with a metabolism-boosting compound called capsaicin, which provides chili peppers' fiery flavor. In addition, capsaicin increases your body temperature somewhat, giving your metabolism an extra calorie-burning push.



Chicken and Fish
It actually takes energy to digest food, and your body burns more calories digesting and metabolizing protein than it does while breaking down carbs and fats. Can Grapefruit Really Slim You Down?

Remember the Grapefruit Diet from way back that had us eating the citrus fruit at breakfast, lunch, and dinner? That plan may have been just a kooky fad, but new research shows grapefruit is actually a powerful diet food.
A review of data from 2003 to 2008 reveals that, on average, women who consumed any amount of grapefruit or grapefruit juice weighed nearly 10 pounds less and had a 6 percent lower body mass index (BMI) than their non-grapefruit-eating counterparts.
Researchers aren’t exactly sure what makes grapefruit lovers slimmer, but study co-author Gail Rampersaud, RD, of the University of Florida, says it could be the simplest of reasons: “Consuming fruits and vegetables with a high water content, like grapefruit, helps you feel fuller and more satisfied on fewer calories.” (Half of a medium grapefruit or an 8-ounce glass of juice has fewer than 100 cals each.)
The fruit is also a source of vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium, but Rampersaud says there’s no evidence revealing any magical fat-burning ingredient at work, as proponents of the old Grapefruit Diet have claimed.
To reap the benefits, Rampersaud suggests making the tart and tangy fruit or juice part of your daily diet.
Not a grapefruit lover? Based on this and other studies, starting meals with water-rich foods, such as cucumber or watermelon, could have a similar effect, says Christine Gerbstadt, MD, RD, spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.........  source

Are These Foods Fatty or Fat Burning?


Are the following foods fatty or fat burning?  When it comes to food all of us are trying to have the best and  the more we become aware the more we miss on everyday foods that are surprisingly good for us.

Nuts


Nuts has always been taken as being unhealthy but actually allows you get rid of fat. Peanuts,Macadamia , Almond  and Pecans are full of healthy and balanced  fat and are also packed up with natural vitamins, nutritional value and anti-oxidants. They provide  significant fiber and protein, which controls the glucose levels and assist in the weight-loss process. Raw nuts are best, but any type of nut is going to be good for you.

 

 

Horseradish

 From the family of Broccoli and Brussels sprouts, Horseradish is packed with glucosinolates.  Great for digestion, healthy liver and may even suppress development of certain tumors.
 
 

 

 

Apples

Apples are heavy on fiber, they contain pectin which is primarily responsible for decreasing LDL cholesterol . Besides, apples are some of the most cost-effective meals out there, lots of variety to choose from, always a favorite.

 

 

 

Berries

Berries are way ahead when it comes down to excellent nourishment. Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and even the exotic goji fruit are all full of excellent nutritional supplements. They contain many anti-oxidants that will help to reduce the chances of disease. The fiber in them decreases the intake of carbohydrates and manages blood glucose levels as well, which promotes absorption of fat. 

 

Avocados

We usually mistook avocados to be an unhealthy food, but the fat in avocados is nothing but the healthier type. Avocados are actually fruit, and they are packed with mono-unsaturated fat. The best part? They are also full of excellent anti-oxidants, natural vitamins, and lots of nutrients.  The quantity of healthier fat in the avocados allows the body to sustain the right quantity of hormones that the body needs in order to remain at a regular weight. Avocados also lower down your appetite due to their filling quality.

 

 

Broccoli




Fiber and anti-oxidants best characterize Broccoli.  It's fibers maintains the digestive tracts and like avocados it has that filling quality.  Broccoli is also packed with Vitamin C, Calcium, Beta Carotene and other beneficial nutrients that will lower your chances of contracting certain diseases.



 
Well...I think it's just a matter  of knowing our food better.
